Mr Poll was replaced by Mike Riley in last weekends Man Utd v Liverpool fixture, with a hamstring strain being given as the reason for his withdrawal. However, just a day before the announcement that Mr Poll wouldn't be in charge of saturday's game at Old Trafford he was slammed by United's Gary Neville for allegedly branding him a 'diver' during an after-dinner speech.
If he has recovered in time, then the game at Highbury will be the first time that Mr Poll has officiated a Blues game this season.
The last time the Tring based official refereed a Blues game was in the 2-2 draw with West Ham on the final day of last season at St. Andrews. Robbie Savage and Stephen Clemence were booked on that occasion.
Mr Poll has refereed three Arsenal fixtures so far this season the last of which was in their 1-1 draw against Manchester Utd at Highbury on 28th March. Gael Clichy the only Gunner to receive a yellow card in that game.
He was also the man in the middle in Arsenals 1-1 draw against Bolton at The Reebok in December when Thierry Henry and Patrick Vierra were cautioned and before that in their 2-1 win at Manchester City back in August when Freddie Ljungberg, Ashley Cole and Bisan Lauren were all yellow carded
In total Mr Poll has been in charge of 21 Premiership matches so far this season handing out 62 yellows and 1 red card.
