"He has been a great servant to Birmingham City, he has never held back for us on the pitch.
"Geoff is one of those players who gives 100 percent and it is understandable why he was so liked by the supporters.
"And, of course, he contributed greatly to help us to where we are now by scoring important goals, like the one in the play-off final.
"The transfer may have come as a surprise to some but things do change and clubs do have to try to move on."
