"But he understands that buying players is not a confrontational business.
"He won't just present us with a fait accompli and say 'that's what I want'. He will tell us which players he wants and then we will sit down as a board, with him in the room, and talk about it.
"I haven't spoken to Steve yet about individual players that he wants to bring to the club.
He wants to fully assess what he has got at the moment and that will take more than a month.
"He is still forming opinions about the players we already have while at the same time building their fitness levels and getting them fully motivated.
"When the time does come for us to talk turkey in the transfer market, though, the board will have full confidence in his views."
