Bruce celebrates at Millwall
When manager Steve Bruce arrived in December they were outside of the first divisions top-six.

But the boss has turned things around and now Blues face a First Division play-off final against Norwich on Sunday in Cardiff.

Gold said: "Our plan was that Steve would have been with us in October, giving him time to produce the results.

"But because of legal problems his arrival was delayed until Christmas. That gave him a short time to make an impact.

"When he then said he needed to make serious changes, my thoughts then were that we were really preparing for next season. So it is quite remarkable that we actually made the play-offs.

"When we did get there and drew at home to Millwall we didn't think we would be in the final.

"I remember at Christmas thinking, 'Wow, we would love to be Wolves'. Today Wolves are probably saying, 'Wow, we would love to be in Birmingham's position'.

"This is probably the biggest game in the history of the club. While we have been in top flight, it was a different animal 16 years ago. Today it is the land of milk and honey.

"But it is not all about money. We want to get there for the fans and ourselves."
