Kilkenny's inch perfect free-kick on 71 minutes was headed home by Chris Killen to give Oldham a surprise 1-0 home win against Peter Taylor's side.
"I felt that Neil Kilkenny was excellent and provided a lot of passes that opened play for us," Oldham boss Moore said after he game.
"Neil on his day can be something special.”
In League Two it was also a good day for another of Blues loanee's. Andrew Barrowman was used as a half-time substitute in Mansfield Town's away win at Kidderminster Harriers.
The Blues striker, who is on a one month loan deal with The Stags, didn't get himself on the scoresheet but played a part as Mansfield came from being a goal down at half time to win 3-1 at The Aggborough.
