Vaesen moved to the Priestfield Stadium on an initial one months loan deal on Christmas Eve and the Gills have won both of their first division games, at home to Watford on Boxing Day and away at Millwall on Sunday, with Nico between the sticks.
“He’s a good goalie, he’s played in the Premier League and I’m pleased that we have got him," said Hessenthaler.
"I’m very pleased with him, he’s experienced and he can help us."
Nico has yet to start a Premiership game for Blues this season after beginning his comeback from a serious knee injury sustained in the local derby with Villa in March and was loaned to the Gills to help regain full match fitness.
