Blues boss Steve Bruce confirmed on Friday that he had been keeping tabs on the progress of the Finnish Under 21 international over the past twelve weeks or so and was hopeful of bringing the player to St Andrews on trial.
Now, Kuqi's club FC Lahti have confirmed that they have accepted Blues' offer and the player, younger brother of Ipswich Town striker Shefki, will be heading to St Andrew's for a seven to ten day trial period.
If the 21-year-old forward impresses Blues' management team enough for them to consider signing him then Kuqi is valued in the £500,000 bracket although no transfer could take place until the 'window' opens again in January.
Meanwhile, another Finnish youngster Roman Eremenko, who along with his elder brother Alexei was on trial with Blues last year, is now training with Italian giants Inter Milan.
The Finnish brothers trained at Wast Hills at around this time last season but Blues never followed up their interest in either player.
Alexei Eremenko has gone on to establish himself with another Italian side Lecce, who are also said to have been keeping tabs on Njazi Kuqi!
