However, the Blues boss feels that, given time to settle, the 22-year-old, who joined from Rosario Central for a £2.5million fee, could prove to be an outstanding long-term investment.

"He has got an outstanding goalscoring record. I believe he is something different to what we have got and a very exciting prospect," said Bruce.

"He's only interested in scoring goals and we are delighted to have captured him, but we realise that it will take him a little bit of time to settle over here.

"It is always a bit of a risk with a signing from abroad. We understand that but, with his goal record, and the fee we have paid, we thought it was an outstanding chance to sign a very good young player."
