"He's just that sort of person. He's one of those horrible rat-type players that you hate," added the former England striker.
"If I was playing football today he would be one of the players I would smarten up.
He just winds people up. I would enjoy being in a match with him to see who could go higher.
"Dion Dublin butted him in the face and I was actually quite pleased he did it."
These comments have not gone down too well with Blues fans, one of which, Steve Hamilton, sent Singing The Blues a copy of an email he has sent to Rodney Marsh, Sky Sports News and The Sun, regarding Marsh's comments:
"I am writing to express my outrage at your recent comments regarding Dion Dublin and Robbie Savage, both on Sky Sports and reprinted in The Sun newspaper.
To say that he deserved it and had it coming was at the very least naive and
ignorant, and at most served notice to those thugs who blight the game of football that violence is okay.
For this to be done by one of the people in a position to influence, due to your prominence in television, is an abuse of that position and one that I feel should only precede an enforced absence from our screens.
Even when your colleagues tried to help you out of what was becoming an
embarrassing situation you held firm to some adolescent belief that he deserved a whack, displaying some playground attitude which you ought to have grown out of.
You will not be welcomed at St Andrews following your comments, and any other right minded followers of football will also be rightly outraged by this nonsense you have been spouting."
Steve Hamilton.
