Furlong, who spent six seasons with Blues during 1996 and 2002, was voted the Coca-Cola Championship player of the month for October by fans visiting the PFA's official website.
The 36-year-old striker, who is QPR's leading scorer this season with ten goals, was last month named the London Evening Standard's player of the month for September.
Not every Blues fans favourite player, Furlong made 156 appearances and bagged 56 goals for Blues following his £1.5 million signing from Chelsea in August 1996. After falling down the pecking order at Blues he was loaned to QPR at the beginning of season 2000-01 but returned to St Andrew's having picked up a bad knee injury.
A loan spell at Sheffield Utd followed in April 2002 before a loan move back to Loftus Road in August 2002 was turned into a permanent deal one month later.
