Eaden can leave

The defender or midfielder who joined Blues on a Bosman free transfer from Barnsley in 2000 has been told he is not guaranteed a place in Bruce's Premiership squad.

Eaden, who still has 12 months of his contract to run, told the B'ham Post & Mail:

"The gaffer called me in and said that if I found another club he would help me out and not stand in my way.

"He also said that if nothing materialised he'd be happy to keep me in the squad. I can't see myself getting in the team next season.

"Of course, you never know what's going to happen with injuries but I don't want to be hanging around for weeks on the off-chance someone gets a problem.

"For 10 years in a row now I've played over 40 games a season.

"Even this season I managed 32, but 23 appearances were up to Christmas before he came. Like any footballer, I just want to be playing games regularly.

"In fairness to the gaffer he's been sound because I've got the best of both worlds with a year still left on my contract.

But we both know that I want to play so I will see what comes up over the summer."
