Duo set to play in Blues reserves game

The duo began their comeback in a behind-closed-doors friendly match against non-league Solihull Borough at Damson Park last week and they will take another step in their bid to return to first team action in the reserves clash with Rovers at Morecambe.

Johnno has been out of action since September after undergoing a double hernia operation while club captain Vickers hasn't played since breaking a rib in the local derby against West Brom six weeks ago.

"They'll get another game in this week and hopefully get a couple of weeks training in on top of that and be ready for the Christmas period," said Blues boss Steve Bruce.

"That would be a big boost because you need all the bodies you possibly can for such a hectic period of matches."

The Blues second string haven't played a Barclaycard Premier Reserve League fixture since their 2-0 victory over Liverpool at St. Andrew's on November 18th, as games against Bradford City and Sunderland were both postponed.

Blues: Bennett, Hutchinson, Gilbert, Capaldi, Woodhouse, Vickers, Johnson M, Luntala, Grondin, Fagan, Kirovski. Subs from: Davies, Alsop, Barrowman, Hipkiss, Allen.

Blackburn: Robinson, Douglas, Bjornebye, Danns, Greer, Todd, Gillespie, Grabbi, Jansen, Mahon, Morgan. Subs from: Pelzer, Drench, Hockenhull, Donnelly, Watt.

Kick-off at Morecambe is 7pm.
