The influential midfielder could now be in-line for a return to Steve Bruce's squad for the game against Charlton if he suffers no reaction to the troublesome hamstring injury which has kept him sidelined since July.
Recent recruit Darren Anderton, who is yet to feature in the first team since his move to St Andrew's last month, also got a run-out in the friendly against the Baggies and he too could come into contention for a place in the Blues squad for the game against The Addicks on Saturday.
Jamie Clapham and Stan Lazaridis meanwhile were not risked in the friendly as they continue to overcome knee and thigh injuries respectively.
