The injury-plagued midfielder missed the 3-0 defeat at Manchester United last weekend but manager Steve Bruce has revealed that Dunn's omission from the side on Sunday was purely precautionary because he had been feeling sore after the midweek home defeat against Liverpool.
Bruce is also confident that Mario Melchiot will have recovered in time to face his former club at St Andrew's on Saturday lunchtime.
The Blues full-back suffered a slight muscle strain that forced him to be substituted eight minutes from the end of the game at Old Trafford.
Elsewhere, another Chelsea old-boy, Mikael Forssell completed 90 minutes for Blues Reserves against Leeds Reserves on Monday night and could also be set for a return to the first team fold this weekend
