Dunn has not played since tearing his hamstring just seven minutes into the FA Cup 5th round replay against Sunderland in February.
First thoughts were that the injury could sideline the Blues record signing for the remainder of the season but after a sooner-than-expected recovery he was close to returning to Steve Bruce's squad for saturdays trip to Charlton.
However, Bruce decided against risking Dunn at the Valley preferring instead that he plays some part in the second strings game against Everton this week in the hope of being included in the squad for the game with Premiership strugglers Wolves at St Andrews on sunday lunchtime.
