The French striker, so influential in helping keep Blues in the Premiership last season having joined the club in January 2003, has been troubled by an on-going knee problem since the summer tour to Malaysia.
However, when deemed fit to play Dugarry's frustration, body language and indiscipline on the pitch has been there for all Blues fans to see.
"It is a huge concern for us and when Christophe came off against Aston Villa he had that look of a dejected person," said Bruce.
"It doesn't matter whether you have won the World Cup or not in that a footballer has an insecurity about him when not performing the way he would like.
"The whole frustration has been there for everyone to see with Christophe and it is up to us to try and help him and stay loyal to him.
"We expect him to report back with us at the end of the week and we'll see what condition he is in. Not just physically but mentally too."
Dugarry has managed just 12 appearances (+ 3 as a sub) so far this season scoring just once and picking up 5 yellows and 1 red card.
