The Blues midfielder picked up his second booking of the 2006 World Cup qualifiers when he angrily kicked the ball away after the award of a free-kick 50 minutes into the match against England at Old Trafford on Saturday and he now faces an automatic one game ban, ruling him out of the must-win game in Warsaw this week.

"I have no excuses. It was a lack of discipline on my part and I'm upset at what I did," he said.

"I am gutted to be missing the Poland game. I just hope whoever comes in can do a good job."
