The Blues midfielder bagged the winning goal just fourteen minutes after replacing his former Spurs team-mate Stephen Clemence midway through the second half at Anfield, his first goal since joining the club back in August.

"Its always a nice feeling to score a goal, especially a winning goal at Anfield," Anderton said after the game.

"It's very nice for me but most importantly for the team because we needed that result.

"Hopefully now we can go on from here."
