"A lot of other teams, including Italian ones, were interested, but I have always wanted to play in England," he admitted.
"Birmingham had wanted me for a while. And, after I told Lens I was not prepared to sign another contract, they kept me out of the team, which really pushed me into an early move."
"If the club stays up there is an option of a three-year contract.
"So, in principle, if all goes well, I could be at Birmingham for a while."
