The veteran striker has played a big part in helping Blues make an immediate return to the Premiership having been on loan at St Andrew's for the last two months. "Andy Cole, I'd like to make permanent," Bruce told Sky Sports after the last match of the season at Preston on Sunday, "He has a year left on his salary at Portsmouth and I don't think we can afford that one. "I'd like to thank him. He has had a big impact, not just on the pitch, but in the dressing room at a time when we were wobbling and needed experience.
