Cisse on comeback trail

The Senegal international hasn't figured in the Blues side since the 1-1 draw with Blackburn at Ewood Park in January when he finished that game with a calf injury.

Cisse then injured his ankle in training one day prior to the match with Chelsea at St. Andrew's in February and fears were that he had damaged ankle ligaments and his season was over.

However, these fears were allayed by surgeons in France and now the influential midfielder looks set to return to first team training at Wast Hills this week.

Blues boss Steve Bruce will be hoping Cisse suffers no setbacks as he will have to make do without another of his combative midfielder players for two games after Robbie Savage picked up his tenth yellow card of the season in the defeat at Manchester City and will have to serve a two game ban.

"We are hoping that Cisse will be able to join in full-time training this week," said the Blues boss.
