Keith Berschin's second string get their season underway in an away game with Rovers next Wednesday (13th August) and Blues boss Steve Bruce has pencilled-in the fixture for the Senegal international skipper to make his eagerly awaited return to match action.
Cisse is about two weeks behind the rest of the first-team squad in terms of fitness, after a fall-out with Bruce over his attitude last month.
The Senegal international skipper turned up late for the first day of pre-season training on July 10th and was placed on the transfer list by the Blues boss.
However, after a change of heart, Cisse returned to pre-season training with the rest of the first team squad last Monday.
"Aliou Cisse should be available for the reserve game at Blackburn next Wednesday," said Bruce.
