"Until Carter was sent off I thought we were doing quite well and was reasonably satisfied," said England coach Les Reed.
"Darren will have to learn the difference between playing for Birmingham and international football and the type of tackles that are acceptable.
"I feel for Darren because those type of tackles occur every week and we will be surprised if he was sent off in England."
