The Blues boss has said, however, that he is hopeful of bringing in a couple of players to St. Andrews on loan and/or permanent deals.
"We'd love to bring a couple of players in. We're exploring the avenues and ringing around frantically to see who is available," the Blues boss told Sky Sports News.
"In an ideal world I wouldn't like to do a lot of business in the transfer window because I do believe you get better value for money in the summer when you get more to choose from. The big clubs for instance are going to hold onto their better players, especially the ones who have qualified for Europe, they don't want to let any of their squad members go.
"We are in a position now where we have got to try and improve the squad if we're going to improve and its very difficult to do that at this time of year.
Bruce has always stuck by his policy in not naming players from other clubs out of respect and he is once again doing that in this transfer window period.
"I could name 10, 12, 15 players that we're interested in. I think that would be wrong of me and I think its direspectful to the clubs that those players represent. Its never been my policy to talk about anybody else's players because I wouldn't like it about my own.
"Its fair to say though that we are looking at two to three individuals to improve the squad and if they become available then we'll try and improve it."
