The USA international striker, who had been at St. Andrews for a season-and-a-half, had his contract with Blues terminated by mutual consent earlier this week so that he could sign for The Los Angeles Galaxy MLS side back in his native America.
Jovan Kirovski
"Its not quite happened for him," Bruce told Capital Gold Radio.
"I understood his predicament. He wanted to go back to America and play football again, which as a manager you can't deny.
"He was a marvelous lad to have around. I'll miss him and I wish him the best of luck," added the Blues boss.
Kirovski was signed by Bruce on a free transfer from Crystal Palace in August 2002 having played under the Blues boss during his time as manager at Selhurst Park.
During his short stay at St. Andrews Kirovski made only 23 league appearances (18 of those from the subs bench) in which he scored two goals, the equaliser against Everton in the 1-1 home draw on Boxing Day 2002 and an absolute cracker in the 1-0 away win at Fulham 10 days later.
