The Blues centre-back has been consistently linked with the Champions League winners throughout the summer but Bruce insists that he is not aware of any bid being made. "It's been very disappointing to us and I have not spoken to anybody about his situation, nor has our managing director Karren Brady. "There has been no inquiry for him, nor have we been asked to name our price. I want our supporters to know that. "Also Matty has three years to go on his contract and it's my intention to build our team around players like him. Having said all that, we know Liverpool have a fantastic history and are the current Champions of Europe. I'm sure they would be an attractive proposition to any player. "But Matty is with us and if anyone did come in for him, it would take a hell of a lot of money for us to even consider letting him leave, certainly not the figure I have seen mentioned. "Maybe a bid is round the corner - who knows? - but it just seems it is all speculation. "And I know that, because of the financial clout of our owners, no-one can pressure us into anything."
Bruce also ridiculed the £5million fee that has been mentioned for the possible sale of the 26-year-old England international defender, who still has three years to run on his Blues contract.
"There has been a lot of speculation about Matty and we're getting tired of it," Bruce told the Birmingham Evening Mail.
