Cole was expected to make his bow in the home match against Coventry City at St Andrew's on Sunday but having suffered a hamstring injury in training the 35-year-old striker was forced to withdraw from the squad. "We expect the scan results not to provide anything serious and hope he can be available for next week. We didn't take any chances with Sunday's game but we expect Andrew to be okay," Bruce has said. "Maybe I've got to look at myself a bit because the one thing we do in training here is work extremely hard and the boys really do put the effort in. "Maybe I asked too much of Andrew for his age. He just felt his hamstring and we weren't going to risk him."
Now Bruce is awaiting the results of scans on the injury in the hope that Cole can make his debut in the game against Steve Cotterill's struggling side at St Andrew's on Saturday.
