“The situation is really quite simple,” Bruce told the B'ham Evening Mail.
“Ferdinand doesn’t really want to stay with us, but we’re welcoming him back and trying to get him fixed up.
“We have an obligation to him and although we thought there was a club that was going to take him at the end of last season, it didn’t materialise.”
“I cannot guarantee Ferdinand a place in the team and he understands that.
“To be fair to him, he’s showed a great attitude and looked good in training.
“He’s ours until he finds a new club so we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.”
