The Blues boss failed in an attempt to sign the Scotland international striker from relegated Leicester City during the close season with Dickov opting for a move to Ewood Park in preference to St Andrew's.
Bruce has made no secret of his wanting four strikers available for selection at Blues and with Mikael Forssell having had to return to Chelsea for knee surgery he currently has only three strikers to choose from in Emile Heskey, Clinton Morrison and Dwight Yorke - the latter having had to sit out last weekends game against West Brom with a hamstring strain.
According to Sky Sports News, Bruce has made a bid for Dickov in the hope of him signing for Blues in the the January transfer window and although the initial bid has been turned down Blues are expected to increase their offer for the player.
It's hardly surprising that Blackburn are reluctant to part with Dickov who despite managing just five goals for the club this season is currently their top scorer and vital in their hopes of avoiding the drop.
