Bruce shouldered the blame for the way the side capitulated in the final twenty minutes of the game but thanked the fans for the support they showed the players at 4-0 down - a touching rendition of 'Keep Right On' bellowing out close to the final whistle by those fans still left in their seats.
"I'd like to say thanks to the fans for their support in the final 10-15 minutes because the players need it and it was good for them," Bruce said after the game.
"I must apologise on behalf of the team because I'm responsible for what was, in the last 15 minutes, not a Birmingham performance.
"For some reason there's a sloppiness come into us and I'm going to question myself because I'm to blame."
