Villa's Reserves failed to secure the Barclaycard Premiership Reserves League (North) title on Wednesday night after a 2-1 away defeat against Manchester City.
Therefore, they will arrive at St. Andrew's next Wednesday night still needing just the one point they need to claim the title.
Keith Bertschin's side are not in the best of form at the moment either. They have recorded just one league win in their last nine games and languish near the foot of the table.
Such would be the embarrassment that surely we must have a case here for being able to withdraw some of our first team players from going away on international duty so they can be included in the second string side on Wednesday night!!
It might only be the Reserves but the Pink & Powder Blues just can't be allowed to win the title at The Shrine.
