Blues boss Steve Bruce spoke of his admiration of the former Charlton and Leeds United midfielder earlier this week and the Magpies have agreed to talks taking place about a possible transfer, although no fee has been agreed.
Newcastle have emerged as clear favourites to sign another Blues target in Scott Parker from Chelsea and it appears that with that deal nearing conclusion then they are willing to let Bowyer leave St James' Park for a nominal fee.
