Blues boss Steve Bruce confirmed after the 2-1 home defeat to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night that talks to tie up a deal for the Clarets striker are still ongoing although he is confident the deal will be completed by the end of the week.
"There's still a few bits and pieces to be done and sorted," Bruce said after the Bolton game.
"We hope that we can get it done by Friday but as always with these transfer deals it never seems to take half an hour like it used to but we're confident something can happen."
Elsewhere, Blues have now received international clearance for Finnish striker Njazi Kuqi and the £400,000 signing from FC Lahti is now clear to play for the club whenever manager Steve Bruce wishes.
