Back To Where It All Began For Bruce

Last updated : 05 November 2003 By Brian Cartlidge

Its just under two years since Bruce took charge of Blues for the first time, December 16th 2001 and a 2-1 defeat at The Molineux .. view report

How times have changed since that winters day 23 months back. Blues no longer linger down in 10th place in the Nationwide First Division but sit proudly in 4th place in the Premiership .. see table for 16/11/2001

Its been a remarkable transformation in such a short period of time. Promotion to the Premiership just five months after that game against Wolves when fans and directors too would have at best been expecting consolidation and a top half of the table finish that season.

A thirteenth place finish in our first season in the top-flight for sixteen years and our first one ever in the Premiership. Gone were home defeats against Wimbledon and away days at Grimsby .. RESULTS FOR 2001-2

The squad has changed dramatically since our last visit to the Molineux too with only five of the sixteen named that day still remaining at St. Andrew's - Vaesen, Benno, Lazaridis, Grainger and Purse. Gone are the likes of Luntala, Woodhouse, Marcelo (where is he now?). In have come international stars like King Kenny, Matty Upson, David Dunn and Christophe Dugarry.

Its been a remarkable last 23 months and so, if your at the Wolves game lets make sure that when he stands in front of that Molineux dug-out on Saturday lunchtime that Brucie gets to hear just what we think of his superb achievements.
