Blues boss Steve Bruce is keen to add a central defender to his squad after Kenny Cunningham's release at the end of last season and Matthew Upson's prolongued injury absence and has tabled a reported £1.5 million for the 23-year-old former Coventry City defender who has failed to command a regular place in the Spurs side since moving to White Hart Lane in August 2004.
Premiership new-boys Reading are also said to be keen on signing the former England Under 21 international centre-back.
Blues are still awaiting the outcome of an agreed transfer fee for Davenport's Tottenham team-mate Stephen Kelly who is currently holidaying in Ireland.
